época tapes

“what is this that is playing?” - we usually hear this question, so we decided to turn public some of the playlists that usually fill our space.

vol #1

It all started in 2019, the month was february, winter time. That’s probably why this playlist starts with “país Nublado” by Helado Negro.

vol #2

two tracks from the Late Night Tales compilation by Floating Points really got the mood for this playlist, with two very special songs by The rationals and Max Roach.

vol #3

for this playlist we discussed the importance of the first track - it needs to be something that really makes you play it. nothing better than cat power’s manhattan for that purpose.

vol #4

Celebrating women’s voices in this one, with tracks by Tirzah, Cleo Sol, Charlotte Day Wilson and Sudan Archives.

vol #5

summer of 2020, and a need for brighter sounds. A quick (imaginary) trip to the Latin America with tracks featuring Buscabulla, Sobrenadar and Ana Frango Elétrico.

vol #6

Lomboy’s Loverboy is the first track of this playlist, and it’s difficult to choose something else to listen after this one. But we tried.

vol #7

from Animal Collective to Daniel Caesar, this is probably our most eclectic playlist so far.

vol #8

Autumn season often asks for more foggy and ethereal sounds. Colleen, h hunt and Eartheater are good examples for taking care of that.

vol #9

we usually don’t play big classics at Época, but when we do, we make sure it’s something like Velvet Underground’s I’ll be your mirror.

vol #10

the year was 2021 and the month was october. Nala Sinephro had just released her amazing debut album space 1.8 and this playlist was a whole excuse to play a track from it.

vol #11

For some reason, sun ra’s “When There is No Sun” seemed a good option to start a playlist in the spring of 2022. eventually, it evolves towards sunnier tracks.

vol #12

how can we include Miles Davis’s track from the film “Ascenseur pour l'échafaud” in a playlist without making it too serious? we tried to answer this question with the other 23 songs.

vol #13

the end of 2022 was a great period for new music, and in this playlist we aimed to partner some of them along with other not so new tunes. expect HTRK, Aria Rostami, léa sen and many more.
